What is the superforecast?
Windfinder provides two different forecasting models: the forecast (which is based on NOAA’s GFS model) and the superforecast. Not only is our superforecast based on an improved physical model and terrain model, it is also calculated using a higher horizontal resolution, resulting in better forecasts especially for local phenomena (e.g. thermals) or very complex terrain. On top of that, all predicted values are available in hourly timesteps!
What to use – forecast or superforecast?
Depending on your location or current weather conditions, either the forecast or the superforecast is more precise. Take your time to observe carefully and choose which of the two weather model offers the best predictions for your region.
Compare to make sure!
Since the forecast and superforecast are based on different physical models, they may produce different predictions. Therefore, to be sure that the predictions you’re looking at are actually going to happen, simply compare both forecasts. If they agree, it’s highly likely that the weather turns out as predicted.
