How do I install the Windfinder Widget?

The newly installed widget on my iOS-device shows "Almost done! Choose a location to set up this widget ". How do I do that?

You can select a location in the widget menu. To do this, tap and hold the widget (long press). A small menu opens. The settings of the widget open where you can select the location (one of your favorites), which forecast model and whether wind alarms should be displayed. When you are done with your settings, tap anywhere on the screen next to the widget menu to close it. It can then take a few minutes for the data in the widget to be displayed. Have fun with your new widget!

The widget layout on my Android device looks distorted. What can I do?

Android is available for a broad variety of devices with different displays. Due to that, for some Android devices the presentation of the Windfinder widget might look distorted. We can’t guarantee that the widget will run as advertised on every device, as every manufacturer and every modification by the user can affect the display of the widget.
  • Please check if you have the latest version of the Windfinder app installed.
  • Give it a try to pinch and resize the widget.
  • Tap onto the widget to open the app. Then close it and check if the widget is presented correctly.
  • If the widget still looks distorted, please write a message with the feedback form out of the Windfinder app.

The widget on my old iOS-device looks slightly different than advertised. Why?

The widgets are adapted to the respective screen size and capabilities of your device. We make layout accommodations for old devices like iPad 9.7” or iPhone 5S, SE 1st gen, iPad Mini 5th gen etc.

How do I get the Windfinder Widget in my “Today”-view on my iPad or iPhone?

  1. Swipe on your home screen to the very left side to open the “Today”-view.
  2. Tap on “Edit” and then on the “+”-button in the top left corner.
  3. Type “Windfinder” into the text search field and choose “Windfinder” from the search results list OR scroll down the list of apps on the left side until you reach “Windfinder”.
  4. Different widget designs are available. All designs are available only with a Windfinder Plus subscription. Choose your preferred design and press “Add widget”.
  5. The widget is then positioned in your “Today”-view. Then tap on “Done” in the right top corner.
  6. Open the widget menu to choose e. g. the forecast spot and forecast model (detailed description see paragraph above).
