Jose 'Gollito' Estredo is the overall winner of the 2008 first PWA Worldcup freestyle event in Podersdorf, Austria. The event was dominated by light gusty winds and varying conditions.
Due to the light winds the first day was just relaxing and partying at night.
Riders and the audience were able to sleep late on the following day. The wind started at 4 pm so the riders could show some light wind artistics in 8 short sessions that day.
To give the sailors the best possible chance to take advantage of the testing conditions, judges decided to run 10 minute heats with the best 3 moves on each tack counting towards the final score. Sailors were given a maximum of 6 moves per tack, allowing 3 moves to be discarded.
Day three was also dominated by waiting for the wind that dropped each time when the heats where started.
The fourth day was a sense of déjà vu when, just as the previous day, the wind backed off within minutes of the heat getting started.
Finally day five brought some wind and heat 9 to 19 were held in varying conditions.
After the single eliminations where done day six brought fair wind conditions for the finals.
The overall winners are:
1. Jose 'Gollito' Estredo (Fanatic, North Sails, MFC)
2. Marcilio 'Brawzinho' Brown (Mistral, Gaastra)
3. Tonky Frans, NL (F2, Gaastra)
4. Antxon Otaegui (JP, NeilPryde, MFC)
