This weekend, the German Windsurf Cup will have its first event for this season in Steinhude where the best German windsurfers will meet in this classic event to continue the fight for the German championship 2009. Starting at Friday, May 1 the competition will start in three disciplines: Slalom, Race and Wave-Freestyle.

Last year's winner Bernd Flessner (GER-16) will have to fight against the local rider Helge Wilkens (GER-63) and Windfinder Windsurf Team member Denis Standhardt (GER-189), which are currently in the first three positions of the German championship series. But the other riders from the Windfinder Windsurf Team like Florian Bandel, Philipp Müller and Gunnar Asmussen will also do their best to get to the top.

Wind forecast for Steinhude as well as the Superforecast for Steinhude don't look too good for the moment, but with the changing weather situation right now it may well be that this will change in the next days. During the event, you can watch the conditions using our Wind report showing wind speed observations from Steinhude. There are also some webcams around the Steinhuder Meer, if you cannot come to this event then at least you will be able to watch it while reading the live ticker on the Windsurfcup website.
