On day 4 of the Windsurf Worldcup in Westerland/Sylt there was eventually enough wind to conduct the Freestyle Single Elimination. The North Sea provided choppy waves, lully wind from 11 to 17 Knots and occasional showers. At around 2pm Tonky Frans (Bonaire), Antxon Otaegui (spain), Kiri Thode (Bonaire) and Jose "Gollito" Estredo (Venezuela) had advanced to the semi finals eliminating Nicolas Akgazciyan (France), Andre Paskowski (Germany), Marcilio "Brawzinho" Browne (Brazil) and Ricardo Campello (Venezuela) in the quarter finals.

In the semi finals Tonky Frans was defeated by European champion Antxon Otaegui, who pulled an air chachoo among many other moves vs a massive front loop from Campello and a kono, etc. Estredo pulls out push loops and flakas while Thode fires out Spock 540 and double spock. Estredo and Otaegui take the wins and meet in the final. But before in the heat fro 3rd place are the 2 freestylers from Bonaire. Frans starts with a forward, Thode a kono. Thode also throws a forward. Thode lands a burner on the way in. Tonky gets an eslider in, then a clew first puneta. Tonky has pulled two massive forwards, then a super tweaked shove vit vulcan.

In the battle for the Freestyle crown in Sylt Otaegui starts with a big forward, then a ponch and funnel. Estredo replies with burner, then a double flaka. S/s chachoo diablo from Estredo, Otaegui fires back with a s/s flaka. in the last minutes of the heat the wind dies but Otaegui still manges to devliver a few moves while Estredo is struggling with the weak wind. The judges put Antxon Otaegui in first, Estredo in 2nd, Thode in 3rd and Frans in 4th. The Freestyle single elimination is over and a wave riding competition is scheduled but the wind seems is decreasing.
